Asia Human Resource Development Center (Cambodia) is a Christian non-government, non-profit organization which was established in 1998 by Hong Kong Alliance Mission (HKAM). HKAM send missionaries to Cambodia to establish this organization. Dr. Andrew, his wife and other mis- sionaries had contributed the time, wealth, relatives, and happiness just for the greatest mission in Cambodia, and he was asked by God in order to start running this organization. The organization was created in July, 1998 for serving God and the good news of Jesus as well as helping to develop Khmer society in a longer run, and help to train in some qualified skills cooperate with national and international organizations for developing the organization’s projects.
Asia HRDC was recognized by the Royal Government of Cambodia with the license number 384, to be listed in May 8, 2000 and issued by the Ministry of Interior. Since 1998 till now, Asia HRDC has gone under three stages of development.
Phase 1 (1998-2004)
The establishment of Asia HRDC was to offer part-time classes of English as a Foreign Language, Computer Skills, Chinese Language, and Khmer Language to foreigners. It was also a means to sharing the gospel with staff and students through different activities held including Christmas program, Cross-Cultural Exchange coordinated by Short-Term Mission Team, Long-Term Missionary, etc. Asides, Living Water football team was established in May 27th, 2001. It was an outreach project initiated by our staff team. This project was financially supported by Hong Kong Alliance Mission and brothers and sisters in Christ either in Hong Kong or Cambodia.
Phase 2 (2005-2011)
Part-time programs were effectively running in the first phase, but we felt difficult for outreaching activities since stu-dents came to classes based on the available time. The management committee decided to shift from part-time to full-time programs in early 2005. The purposes were to provide more holistic education and at the same time to share the gospel with students. Multi-Skills Program which lasted approximately two years was established and it was run whole day long. Two majors were offered English Language and Information Technology. Students could choose either one of them. Beside the curriculums, various activities were organized including School Assembly, Khmer New Year Celebration, Christmas Celebration, Workshops with Short-Term Mission Teams, and Study Tour.
Phase 3 (2012-2023)
The job market demands degree certificate that pushes HRDI to provide Associate Degree programs in English Literature and Information Technology, permitted by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training in 2012. The major of Business Management has also been permitted but we should be ready in the near future. The current programs are running whole day long as to build up not only knowledge and skills, but also life a whole person. Students are required to meet all academic requirements as well as the requirements for extracurricular activities including Workshops, School Assembly, Outdoor Activities, Day Camp, Khmer New Year Celebration, Easter Celebration, Christmas Celebration, etc. Mission Teams, and Study Tour.
